PEEPs Supporters

PEEPs is fortunate to have the opportunity to work with a diverse range of organizations. Without their support PEEPs would not be able to offer the unique, high quality programming that we take pride in. It is this kind of support that builds a collaborative PEEPs community.

This site is under construction. Check back frequently to learn about additional PEEPs supporters

Thank you to everyone for making PEEPs a success!

Audubon Society of Portland

PEEPs visited the Audubon Society of Portland to learn about how they help our local wildlife species. We took a walk through the only remaining old growth in Forest Park, and learned about the different wild species that reside in our own community. We got up close and personal with the non-releasable education birds that now live at the wildlife center.

 Dignity Village

PEEPs has visited Dignity Village many times to learn and discuss the issues of food security, hunger, and building community. We've helped them paint their donation center; worked along side the residents to build a greenhouse to store plants in the winter months, helped create stands for residents to use when using heaters in their homes, and painted their raised garden beds. We love working with this group of villagers because they are always friendly and willing to share their stories with us.

Wasabi Paddling Club

PEEPs spent a fun day on the Willamette River with the Wasabi Paddling Club. We paddled from a dock near PEEPs central, past OMSI, to the lagoon at Ross Island. We got out at Ross Island and the Wasabi club members taught us how to identify wildlife by their footprints, and their scat. While paddling we learned that it takes a lot of strength and teamwork to power a dragon boat through the water!

City Repair Project

The City Repair Project is a non profit that focuses on beautifying Portland's urban areas with a focus on place-making and sustainable building. Workshops with PEEPs have  included learning how to work with cob (a sustainable building material that looks similar to clay) and engaging in chalk art murals.

Lower Columbia River Estuary Partnership (LCREP)

LCREP is an organization whose mission is to preserve and enhance the water quality of the estuary to support its biological and human communities. LCREP offers an array of educational opportunities to PEEPs. For example, LCREP led PEEPs in an overnight canoe trip to Coon Island where we learned more about natural habitats and water quality. They taught us about migratory birds in the Ridgefield Wildlife Refuge while developing team work strategies to paddle a huge canoe.

Portland Farmers Market

The Portland Farmers Market is a non profit organization whose mission is to aid in the success of local food growers and producers, strengthen our food economy and serve as community gathering places. PFM offers PEEPs a chance to learn more about our local food production, organic gardening, and enjoying fresh, nutritious meals.

Burgerville on Hawthorne

Burgerville is committed to fresh, local, sustainable practices in their food and customer care. In the Spring of 2010, the Hawthorne Burgerville approached PEEPs about lending a hand in a fundraising event. On May 28th and June 5th, 2010 Burgerville on Hawthorne will donate 20% of all proceeds on food purchased accompanied by a PEEPs flyer to aid in raising funds for PEEPs summer camp scholarships.
